This stunning “Yokohama Story” decorative plate was produced in Japan during the Showa era (around the 1970s–1980s).
Designed as a commemorative and decorative piece, it beautifully captures the spirit of Japan’s port-opening era in the late 19th century.
The centerpiece depicts a majestic Western sailing ship, while the surrounding motifs include Western figures in period attire and vibrant floral patterns. The design symbolizes the cultural exchange between Japan and the West during the opening of Yokohama Port in the Meiji period.
Finished with vivid overglaze enamels and touches of gold, this large plate makes a striking display for any interior. It comes with the original presentation box and a plastic display stand, making it perfect for collectors or as a unique gift.
