“Ryogoku Fireworks” from Hiroshige’s One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (Framed Ukiyo-e Reprint, Hand-printed by Liu Changqing)
【About This Artwork】
This is a high-quality reprint of “Ryogoku Fireworks,” one of the most iconic pieces from the One Hundred Famous Views of Edo series by the celebrated ukiyo-e master Utagawa Hiroshige.
The artwork was hand-printed by renowned woodblock artist Liu Changqing, using traditional Japanese techniques passed down through generations.
Purchased directly from a fine art print studio closely associated with the Printmaking Research Lab at Tokyo University of the Arts, this edition captures the atmospheric beauty of Hiroshige’s original design with exceptional accuracy and detail.
The moment a firework bursts into the summer night sky above Ryogoku Bridge and the Sumida River is depicted in a bold, yet serene composition—showcasing Hiroshige’s signature blue, known in the West as “Hiroshige Blue” or “Japan Blue.”
