Product Description
“The face is the soul of the doll” — A masterpiece from Japan’s most historic doll brand, Yoshitoku Taikou.
This exquisite Ichimatsu doll, titled Hanakago (“Flower Basket”), was crafted in the 1970s by Yoshitoku Taikou (よしとくたいこう) — a distinguished label under Yoshitoku Co., Ltd., Japan’s oldest and most esteemed doll maker with a legacy spanning over 300 years.
Clad in a radiant orange kimono with traditional motifs, she gently holds a woven basket filled with silk flowers — a symbol of blessing, celebration, and grace in Japanese tradition. Her soft expression and Shimada-style hair reflect the refined elegance of the Showa era.
Yoshitoku’s core belief — “Ningyō wa kao ga inochi”, meaning “The face is the soul of the doll” — is beautifully embodied in her serene presence.
Presented in a classic acrylic display case, this doll is not just a cultural artifact but a meaningful addition to any home — whether for spiritual ambiance, cultural appreciation, or as a heartfelt gift.
