This unused Japanese obijime cord is hand-braided in the traditional Korai-gumi style using silk.
The vivid orange ground is accented with lustrous gold-toned geometric motifs, creating a bright and refined contrast. The design changes subtly depending on which side is shown and how the cord is tied.
Originally made to secure and decorate an obi, it is suitable for kimono styling, including furisode and formal kimono ensembles. Its beautiful braided texture also makes it appealing as a Japanese textile craft material for belts, accessories, decorative trims, or handmade bag handles and accent straps.
